Links to Maps and Charts: Modern and Historic
Here are a selection of various links to universities, government, and private websites that have excellent resources for anyone with an interest in maps or charts. I enjoy looking and them and find it relaxing in much the same way as reading a book or magazine. Looking a map a person ccould allow their imagination run free and create stories in their mind about great battles or journeys that could take place in the boundaries of the map. Searching for new routes to a particular destination, or just learning about the local lay of the land is another thing a person could do. I particularly enjoy looking at the differences between historic and modern maps. Seeing how a town of region looked a hundred or two hundred years ago compared with today is very interesting. Whatever reasons you may have for linking maps or even if you are just curious this may be a good place to start. Need directions home? Click here |
